What Are Repair Cafés?

Repair cafés are volunteer-run community events where neighbors help neighbors fix broken things. Volunteers — often experienced engineers, craftspeople, or tech enthusiasts — share their time, knowledge, and tools. For free. No strings attached. Simply because they believe in the idea: repair instead of throwing away.

Berlin is one of the most active cities in Europe when it comes to repair culture. Over 26 repair cafés span 12 districts — from Kreuzberg to Spandau, from Pankow to Treptow-Köpenick. They are places of connection, learning, and collective action.

At Repair Circle, we want to build a community around repair in Berlin — bring people together and make repair the norm again.

How Repair Cafés Work

Step 1: Bring your broken device, clothing, or item to the nearest repair café in your district.

Step 2: Experienced volunteers help you fix it — with tools, knowledge, and patience. You learn along the way.

Step 3: Take your repaired item home. No waste, no new purchase, just satisfaction.

What is Repair Circle?

Repair Circle is an online platform for professional device repair in Berlin. We complement the great work of repair cafés by connecting people with certified local workshops — for repairs that need professional tools and replacement parts.

Both share the same goal: make repair the norm, reduce e-waste, and strengthen Berlin's communities.
